Matehuala to Puebla, Mexico:
I introduced Don to the world of CouchSurfing. A great way to meet people more familiar than you about the place you find yourself. We stayed with a Brit named Sarah Hird (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/sarahh89/). She is teaching English in Puebla. We had a great dinner with her and exchanged many stories of our mutual travels around the world. In particular, Don and Sarah talked for a long time about Indonesia.
Our drive time was about 7.5 hours. But, we had our first mishap with the truck...
It was interesting today as I managed to again get us off track. For the second time I missed a critical sign for the proper highway and we ended up doing more sight seeing than anticipated. Don was gracious. Seems he can't take a nap without me getting us nearly lost. We found our way back to the highway in Quieretara and made our way to Puebla successfully. For Don's part, he managed to hit something that punctured the driver side front tire. Luckily there was a very nearby PEMEX station which we pulled into for a needed fill up. While there, the attendant pointed out our deficient tire. 45 minutes and 200 pesos took care of the issue. We are now in Puebla couchsurfing for the night.
This appeared to be a funeral with the casket in the truck and followers on bicycle. |
