Puebla to Oaxaca, about 4 hours
The entrance to Sarah's apartment courtyard |
Don got the couch... sore back and all.
The truck resting in Sarah's apartment courtyard
just before awakening for the drive to Oaxaca |
A view to Sarah's apartment from the truck. |
The exit |
Starbucks Coffee Oaxaca-style |
Now, if you follow directions the
way out of Oaxaca is as follows |
Patron saints to protect us on our journey |
Toll booth just outside of Oaxaca |
Pigs in a truck making way for faster vehicles... |
The exit to Oaxaca |
Welcome to Oaxaca. |
Late afternoon Oaxaca traffic heading toward Centro |
A resting spot before we find a hotel. |
Oaxaca's "Zocala" |
Seems there was a "occupy" demonstration just around the corner . |
Cross-traffic on the far end and Police shields on this end tended to contain the size. Mostly indigenous women and kids making and selling crafts for fundraising. Seems some folks were killed and injured in the country side. Patience seemed evident from both sides of the issue. |
Our hotel entrance, nice two bed place with hot shower. |
Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman at night. |
What follows are some pictures of a great church...
Welcome |
And how is your soul? |
We then tour some of the shops around the church...
Tapestries, Mexican style. |
A modern, eclectic coffee shop. The music
emanating from the place was great. |
Don contemplates a carpet purchase.
Perhaps he can fly home? |
The courtyard of a 4-star hotel, a former convent.
Absolutely beautiful inside,
including the outdoor pool and bar. |
A balloon for the nino? |
World famous blind accordion player, pretty good, too.
I left a big handful of change. |
On our first night we discover there is lots to see and we still have two more days
to tour the town and beyond...
